Pair of Zileh saddle bags from eastern Caucasus

This extremely rare and complete pair of saddle bags in the Zileh pattern and soumak technique displays light red fields with stepped and hooked patterns in various colors.Each panel has a broad navy border decorated with tiny colorful Z’s.The guard stripes show tabbed plain bands.In addition there is an outermost barber pole line,striped red and blue plainweave bridge and numerously colored closure tabs.The multicolor side cords add charm to the piece.The weave is tight and compact.The saddle bags have red and orange chemical colors.The condition of this rare piece is good.SOLD
