Zejwa rug from eastern Caucasus,Kuba district,west coast of the Caspian Sea

Size: 6′.0"x4′.1" (183×124 cm)

On a dark brown ground are displayed three characteristic rayed and internally hooked ivory sunburst medallions.At the center of each medallion is a blue flattened octagram medallion with blossoms and small rosettes.Along the sides of the field are winged rosettes and small dragons appear between the medallions.Accent colors include aubergine,rose,red,blue,green and yellow.The ivory main border displays a geometric S pattern with internal barber poles,and breaks in a desirable manner at the lower end.There are two minor borders in red and blue keyhole reciprocal.At each end is a navy soumak line followed by a knotted warp net.All the colors are from natural sources.The rug is in good condition.
