Zeikhour long rug from Kuba district,eastern Caucasus,west coast of the Caspian Sea

Size: 9′.6″x4′.3″ (290×130 cm)

The attractive ivory field displays three complete St Andrew’s crosses in navy and red,with details including rosettes in numerous tones.Leaf and rosette groups fill the available spaces.Partial crosses are in vegetal forms and display an attractive green with additions of yellow and red.The field is extremely visually attractive.The outer border in medium blue and ivory displays the iconic Zeikhour wave pattern,while the inner red stripe shows geometric roses along with lesser stars and rosettes in light blue,yellow,ivory,black and cocheneil.There are several solid lines present.At each end is a flatwoven band followed by a wide knotted warp net.All the colors are from natural sources.The piece is in good pile and condition.
