Zeikhour long rug from eastern Caucasus,Kuba district,west coast of the Caspian Sea

Age: circa 1870

Size: 8′.1"x4′.4" (246×132 cm)

The dark blue field presents five medallions three royal blue winged motifs with rose rosette centers;and two flattened hexagon medallions with lateral extensions.There are four triple posy flowers,hooked two tone diamonds,stylized palmettes and other geometric elements.Underlaying the motifs is an eccentric green lattice.A classic blue and white Zeikhour wave border and an inner red minor border decorated with a heart design make an appropriate frame for this Eastern Caucasian rug.Both ends have soumak bands followed by macrame warp strips.All the colors are from natural sources.The rug is in good condition.SOLD
