Zeikhour long rug from Kuba district,eastern Caucasus,west coast of the Caspian Sea

Age: circa 1870

Dimensions: 9′.6"x3′.7" (290×109 cm)

The navy blue field displays five small lozenge medallions,each with eight pendant palmettes.There are numerous small botehs,and pointed rosettes filling the interstices and delicate floral elements projecting inward from the borders.There is a classic red and rose Zeikhour "S" pattern main border between attractive and unusual ivory minors with colorful chained hexagons.The wool is soft and velvety.The weave is tight and compact.The colors are well saturated.The condition of the rug is good.
