Tekke torba from western Turkmenistan

This silk accented six gul Tekke torba features a tomato red field with six quartered guls in burnt orange,ivory,navy and red.The secondary Chemche Guls show rosette centers.The tonally en suite border features cartouches centered by rosettes.There are two multicolor barber pole lines in the border system.A plain red band surrounds the whole of which the outer extends to the top at one end.One flatwoven end finish is folded under and sewn.The weave is extremely fine and the pile is brisk.The wool is soft and the handle is pliable.All the colors are from natural sources.The condition is good except for a small cut at one end and a few missing sections along the selvedges.
