Shirvan prayer rug from eastern Caucasus,west coast of the Caspian Sea

Size: 3′.2″x2′.7″ (97×79 cm)

This very rare ivory field mini Shirvan prayer rug shows an offset five column stepped lattice enclosing a one way palmette design.In the spandrels are open hands and combs.The faceted floating niche arch is edged by a barber pole border and harbors a red nested and faceted motif.On one side of the field only are multicolor triangular fillers.The madder red main border displays a barred S pattern and is flanked by two dotted narrow lines.At each end is a narrow ivory flatwoven strip.All the colors are from natural sources.The rug is in good condition.SOLD
