Shirvan rug from eastern Caucasus,west coast of the Caspian Sea

The old ivory field is covered with a multitude of closely set hooked diamonds in navy,light blue,dark red,camel,green and brown.Along the sides of the field are matching triangular elements.The well abrashed madder red main border displays smaller hooked diamonds similar to those of the field.A dark blue octagonal rosette inner border and deep yellow rosette outer border along with two quincunx stripes,a barber pole line and several solid lines complete the frame.At each end is an ivory kilim followed by original knotted brown and old ivory fringes.The handle is soft and pliable.All the colors are from natural sources.The rug is in very good condition.
