Shirvan prayer rug from eastern Caucasus

This classic Shirvan prayer rug displays a strong faceted black arch over an ivory field with a lozenge lattice enclosing a wide variety of stylized flowers.In the spandrels and within the niche the lozenge pattern becomes a larger hexagonal variant.The red main border has a classic barred S design and is flanked by rosette patterned minors in yellow and black.The inner border exactly matches the mihrab design.There are four black and white barber pole lines present.All the colors are from natural sources.The condition of the rug is very good including the original ends and sides.
