Shirvan prayer rug from eastern Caucasus

Age: dated 1322=1904 Christian date

Dimensions: 5′.3"x4′.0" (160×122 cm)

The ivory field displays a well drawn hexagonal sawtooth lattice with a necklace pattern of nested rows of palmettes especially in red and light blue.The pattern continues into the spandrels.There is a sawtooth pointed niche arch with colorful zig-zags and pigeons.The red main border has a classic stylized "S" design and is flanked by dark brown dot and arrowhead minors.The colors are from natural sources including the original camel hair.The condition is very good and the original flatwoven kilim ends are present.SOLD
