Shirvan prayer rug from eastern Caucasus

Dimensions: 5′.4"x2′.9" (163×84 cm)

The ivory field displays a diamond lattice filled with stylized flowers and continues into the spandrels next to the arch.The dark blue niche arch floats freely and encloses a pair of weaver’s combs.The unusual medium blue main border contains a dark brown network highlighted with multicolor dots and is flanked by red and green reciprocals.The colors are beautiful and all from natural sources.A short beige kilim remains at the top.The blue side cords are missing and the center has some wear.The bottom end is missing partially.This is a beautiful collectable piece with a soft and flexible handle.
