Shahsavan soumak reverse technique bag from north west Persia (Iran)

Size: 1′.8″x1′.8″ (51×51 cm)

This bagface is perfectly iconic in both the honeycomb patterned field,and in the ivory connected hexagon border.The main panels of the lattice are in ivory,navy,chocolate,blue,green,red and fuchsin.The elements of the main border uniformly display geometric S’s in various colors.The flanking barber pole lines are in red and green and red and white.The handle is flexible,the colors are soft and the condition is fair.The barber pole narrow lines on the sides and a dark brown line at the ends are missing.The piece has white cotton highlights.SOLD
