Shahsavan bag from Moghan Savalan,south east Caucasus

Age: circa 1850

Size: 1′.9"x1′.5" (53×43 cm)

The attractively abrashed blue field displays three columns,each of five connected octagonal medallions,all of which contain hooked crosses.In between the columns are irregular ivory stepped diamond forms.The ivory border is patterned on three sides by connected stepped colorful medallions,whereas on the top border they are independent.Small quincunxes,further decorate the main border.In addition there are two barber pole lines and a striped plain weave band at one end.There is a small white cotton band in the ivory main border.All the colors are from natural and vegetable sources.The piece is in good condition.SOLD
