Sewan Kazak rug from Armenia,southwest Caucasus

Age: dated 1310=1892

Dimensions: 6′.9"x5′.1" (206×155 cm)

On a madder ground the classic winged Sewan shield medallion displays a light green submedallion with a madder diamond focal element and stylized volute vertical extensions.Within the green panel are curled motifs and hooks.In addition there are diamonds,a date panel,lazy s’s and other smaller elements.The light blue main border is closely covered by squares each composed of four radiating multicolor floral buds at the top and red,green,yellow and ivory leaves and floral buds on all other three borders.The main border is flanked by yellow and brown reciprocal and ivory multicolor connected leaves minor borders.There are four two tone barber pole lines present.All the colors are from natural sources.The rug is in good condition.SOLD
