Saliani long rug from south east Caucasus

The wine red field displays six hooked lozenges in ivory and blue with details in yellow,navy and red.The otherwise plain field shows two small bitonal diamonds at one end.The ivory main border employs floating characteristic Saliani rosettes with a scattering of small geometric elements.The flanking minor borders in blue and abrashed green show dotted meanders connecting extremely stylized leaves.The brown innermost border shows a bitonal zig-zag.There are six barber pole lines in the border system.The selvedges are banded in pile colors.The weave is fine and the handle is chunky.At each end the kilim finish is present.The colors are vivid and the condition is good.
