Qashqai rug from south west Persia (Iran)

Age: circa 1890

Measurements: 6′.6"x3′.3" (198×99 cm)

The navy field is decorated with an ivory pole medallion consisting of three joined hexagons with large red turtle palmettes and a variety of hooked diamonds,rosettes,color samplers,and other geometric devices.Six small animals are positioned in each palmette.There are tall flowering plants,botehs,various animals and more color samplers,rosettes and other smaller elements scattered in the background.The ivory main border has colorful in and out palmette and vine design which is mimicked by the inner and outer borders.The classic Qashqai navy and blue checkerboard design of the end panels continues on the sides as an outermost border.The colors are vibrant.The handle is soft and pliable.The condition of the rug is very good including the original ends and sides.SOLD
