Ningxia rug from north central China

Age: circa 1780

Size: 5′.5"x3′.5" (165×104 cm)

The salmon/apricot field displays the classic Chinese pattern of the eight horses of Mu Wang,a semi historical character.At both lower corners are polychorme layered mountains and there are cloudbands and stylized flowers scattered about.The horses are detailed in beige,medium blue,brown and taupe.Only the main border remains with a pattern of white dots on dark blue.There are several solid lines present.All the colors are from natural and vegetable sources.The piece is missing a border all around.Although some sections of the rug have enough pile the rug in general has some wear,old faded repairs and a missing border.SOLD
