Luri rug (117) – SOLD

3' 1" x 2' 6" (94 x 76 cm)

Luri prayer rug from Fars province, south west Persia (Iran)

Age: circa 1880

Measurements: 3′.1"x2′.6" (94×76 cm)

This rug is surely unique:The camel field is filled with flowering plants, animals, rosettes, multicolor triangles and other interesting elements. The only indication of its prayer purpose is the pair of hands.Small south west Persian rugs are extremely rare and the size indicates that it was made for a child.Perhaps the weaver was also the intended user. The two tone striped border is frequently seen on Fars pieces. The design is irregular and this is to be expected on a great rug.All the colors are from natural sources. This is a true, very rare collector’s item in good condition including the original ends and sides.SOLD

THROUGH OUR EFFORTS TO PROVIDE THE HIGHEST QUALITY IMAGES, WE USE VERY HIGH RESOLUTION PHOTOS. IF YOU CANNOT SEE THE WHOLE RUG PLEASE TRY REFRESHING THE PAGE – SOME LONG RUGS MAY NOT FIT WITHOUT ZOOMING.
