Luri bag from south west Persia (Iran)

Age: dated 1323= 1905

Size: 1′.10"x1′.10" (56×56 cm)

The navy ground displays an ivory syrga pattern along with a date band and an additional syrga strip and narrower sections displaying lazy S’s.The ivory main border shows a characteristic undulating vine.There are two bitonal triangle minor borders in blue,red,green and dark brown.At one end the soumak weave closure tabs are intact and display checkerboard patterns.There are also two lesser cicim technique lines.At the other end is a striped blue and red plainweave band.All the colors are from natural sources.The piece is in good pile and condition.
