Lesghi rug from Kuba district,eastern Caucasus,west coast of the Caspian Sea

Size: 6′.4″x3′.10″ (193×117 cm)

The navy field displays four floating Lesghi stars in red,straw,ivory and blue.Between and around the major devices are rows and columns of  smaller octagons,stars,rosettes,lazy S’s and hooked elements.The ivory main border shows a polychrome interlocking pattern.The inner minor border hosts a reversing carnation on an abrashed black ground while the outer presents colorful striped lines in various colors.There are four red and white barber pole lines and four solid lines in the border system.At each end is a beige flatweave followed by a macrame band with braided tassels.All the colors are crisp and from natural sources.The handle is moderately firm.The condition of this charming piece is good.
