Lesghi rug from eastern Caucasus,west coast of the Caspian Sea

Size: 4′.0″x3′.6″ (122×107 cm)

The attractive ivory ground employs three Lesghi stars in red,blue,yellow,navy and ivory.There is dense filled field of hooked lozenges,animals,rosettes,quincunxes,dots and stars.At the outer edge of the field is a sharp sawtooth line.The ivory main border shows a slightly compressed crab pattern.The flanking minor borders in red and blue,both feature colorful floating rosettes.There is an outer ivory tertiary border decorated with discrete small flowers.There is a solid blue and black line surrounding the whole.At each end is a beige flatwoven band followed by a knotted warp net.All the colors are from natural sources.The handle is reasonably pliable.The piece is in good condition.
