Lesghi rug from eastern Caucasus,Kuba district,west coast of the Caspian Sea

Age: circa 1885

Size: 6′.1"x4′.8" (185×142 cm)

The navy field displays three closely spaced Lesghi stars with internal comb patterns in soft red and medium blue.Among the secondary elements are hooked double triangles,snowflakes,birds,rosettes,lazy S’s,diamonds and other smaller motifs.At the outer edge of the field is an ivory serrated design.The green main border employs the classic ivory Kufic pattern.The six secondary borders include:two bitonal keyhole reciprocals;a carnation stripe;two star pattern on different ground colors;and a ribbon meander.There are several barber pole lines and a solid blue line present.At each end is a multicolor rhomboid motif and a closely woven macrame band.The colors are soft,the weave is fine and the condition is good.SOLD
