Lesghi rug from Kuba district,eastern Caucasus

Age: circa 1890

Measurements: 5′.10"x3′.8" (178×112 cm)

The madder red field of this classic Lesghi rug is centered by an abrashed light blue box containing a red and green Lesghi star with an ivory disc in the center and two similar blue and white Lesghi stars on either end of the box.The field and the box are filled with rosettes,lazy S’s and other interesting elements.The ivory main border is ornamented by octagons with internal volutes.The abrashed blue guards employ similar rosette patterns.There are three two tone barber pole lines present.In addition there is an innermost multicolor open triangular border.All the colors are from natural sources.The rug is in good condition and pile with original ends and sides.SOLD
