Lesghi rug from eastern Caucasus,Kuba district

Age: circa 1890

Measurements: 4′.1"x3′.1" (124×94 cm)

This Kuba interpretation of the classic Lesghi design has two columns each of four ivory stars with dark blue inner patterns.The five box innermost motif is repeated between the columns.In addition there are rosettes,honeycombs and jewellery elements scattered about.The ivory main border has a connected chain of stepped crosses in numerous colors.There is a red and abrashed green keyhole reciprocal outer surround.The colors are from natural sources.The condition is good including the original selvages and macrame ends.SOLD
