Lesghi rug (16)

8' 0" x 3' 11" (244 x 119 cm)

Lesghi long rug from eastern Caucasus

Age: circa 1890

Size: 8′.0"x3′.11" (244×119 cm)

Six Lesghi stars, including three in ivory, are placed in individual compartments with yellow dividers.Around each star is a scatter fill of small devices. An implicit border of small stars transitions each panel to the border system. The guard stripes differ in width, but unusually for Caucasian rugs, have the same design. The weave is solid and tight. The blue selvages and knotted ends are both original, and the rug is in very good condition elsewhere as well.

THROUGH OUR EFFORTS TO PROVIDE THE HIGHEST QUALITY IMAGES, WE USE VERY HIGH RESOLUTION PHOTOS. IF YOU CANNOT SEE THE WHOLE RUG PLEASE TRY REFRESHING THE PAGE – SOME LONG RUGS MAY NOT FIT WITHOUT ZOOMING.
