Kuba rug fron eastern Caucasus,west coast of the Caspian Sea

Age: circa 1900

Size: 5′.7″x3′.8″ (170×112 cm)

The broken ivory serrated lattice shows a single variety of stylized flowers on the dark chocolate brown.There are six borders including:the innermost ivory band with a chain of small colorful lozenges;two flanking red minor borders with rosette S’s in various colors;in the center is an ivory frame with stylized rosettes;two black and blue keyhole reciprocal guard lines;finally,there are six dotted barber pole lines.At each end is a narrow dark chocolate soumak line followed by a tightly woven warp macrame band.The two cord selvedges are wrapped in dark chocolate.The handle is leathery and very firm.All the colors are from natural sources.The rug is in good condition.SOLD
