Kuba rug from eastern Caucasus,Kuba district,west coast of the Caspian Sea 

Age: circa 1870

Size: 4′.1"x3′.8" (124×112 cm)

The navy field displays a curving yellow leaf lattice with rosette points enclosing stylized palmettes and four distinctive ivory five blossom flowers.In addition there are small geometric fillers scattered near the edges.The pattern is detailed in blue,red and ivory.The unusual red main border shows a chain of ivory squares enclosed in ivory hexagons.There are navy double headed fillers.The innermost minor border shows ashiks on ivory ground.There are two additional diagonally striped multicolor borders.There are four red and white barber pole lines and several solid lines in blue,green,yellow and black.The weave is quite fine and all the colors are from natural and vegetable sources.The rug is in good condition.SOLD
