Kuba rug from eastern Caucasus,west coast of the Caspian Sea

Age: circa 1870

Size: 4′.4"x3′.4" (132×102 cm)

The abrashed dark blue field supports a close serrated ivory leaf lattice enclosing various small stylized flowers.The broad ivory main border features octagons with internal hooks and colored in yellow,red,two shades of blue and green and is flanked by:an inner yellow band with small footed lozenges;an outer keyhole reciprocal in red and abrashed green.There are several solid lines and one red and white barber pole present.At each end is a flatwoven finish followed by a partial warp net.The rug has a soft and pliable handle.It is finely woven.All the colors are from natural sources.This attractive piece is in good condition.SOLD
