Dated 1301 (1883) this unusual Kuba scatter features a dark brown field with a two column pattern of stylized palmettes,geometric leaves,S’s and E’s and minor devices in green,yellow,red,ivory and blue.The ivory main border has a repeating pattern of colorful ashiks and separator bars.The flanking minor borders have a striped segment motif.There are eight barber pole lines in red and white and black and yellow.At each end is a blue soumak finishing followed by a macrame warp band.All the colors are from natural sources.The condition is good with the dark brown field naturally corroded.
