The lozenge lattice of Shirvan prayer rugs also appears on Kubas, for example,on this dark blue ground piece with a variety of small interstitial plants. The large elements in the colorful "crab" ivory main border are squared and flattened, especially at the ends. The flanking minor guards employ multicolor stripes. An elegant narrow ivory border surrounds the dark blue center. All the colors are from natural sources. The condition of the rug is very good including the light blue end finishings and the original selvages.
