Kuba prayer rug from eastern Caucasus,west coast of the Caspian Sea

Age: circa 1890

Measurements: 4′.9"x3′.6" (145×107 cm)

The medium blue field employs the combination of Afshan and prayer designs.The red,green and ivory medallions are surrounded by goosenecks,stars,leaves and other interesting devices.The unusual red and white striped mihrab along with the center field form a rare ensemble.The light brown main border has multicolor flowers and stylized medallions and is flanked by attractive minor guards mostly seen in Chi-Chi rugs.The colors are vibrant and the rug is in good condition.SOLD
