Khamseh rug from south west Persia (Iran)

This unusually square,finely woven tribal scatter displays a red stepped diamond four pendant medallion enclosing a symmetrized turtle pattern along with four stepped corners displaying botehs and chickens,all on a narrow cane pattern field.The corners are connected with colorful triangle steps.Within each corner is a yellow panel with a red flower and other interesting motifs.The three borders have identical designs,the middle yellow,the flanking ones royal blue,with bar and lozenge patterns.At each end is a navy and ivory double checkerboard line separated by a green chessboard line followed by a broad red and blue striped plain weave.All the colors are from natural sources.The piece is in good condition.
