The attractive, warm madder red field of this traditional south Persian tribal rug displays diagonals of botehs detailed in old gold, medium blue, ivory, dark aubergine, navy and dark brown. The pattern closely follows Persian moon textiles of the mid 19th century. The navy main border is en suite with the field design. The inner diagonally striped border also relates to Persian 19th century textiles. The gold outer border has a reversing palmette and bar motif. There are four quincunx pattern guardlines. At each end of the piece is a wide flatwoven kilim end striped in madder and indigo. All the colors are from natural sources. The condition of the rug is good.
