Khamseh bird bag with silk highlights from south west Persia (Iran)

The tomato red field is dominated by a medium blue central diamond enclosing small rosettes and pointed by arrowhead finials.The deep red ground displays four blue chickens and multicolor rosettes framing the ground and other tiny geometric devices.The medium blue border shows stylized triangle boteh pattern.The closure panels have tabs with geometric soumak motifs and are flanked by navy and ivory checkerboard panels followed by two red and blue finishings and a burgundy kilim strip.The red and green closure loops are intact and so are the multicolor selvedges.The backs are striped in red,blue,green,navy,burgundy and burnt orange.All the colors are from natural sources.Some red and blue silk knots are visible in the central diamond.The piece is in good condition.The bottom blue border is folded in.SOLD
