Kazak rug (71)

7' 0" x 5' 2" (213 x 157 cm)

Kazak rug from Armenia,southwest Caucasus

Age: circa 1890

Size: 7′.0"x5′.2" (213×157 cm)

This rug is an interesting variant on the classic three medallion format. The strong red field displays an electic blue central medallion enclosing a red cartouche, and is flanked by ivory octagons, hook fringed inside and out, with cruciform centers.Unusually the dark green is corroded. The main border is a traditional slant leaf chalice design, but on a yellow ground. The colors are vibrant. The ends and sides are original and the pile is good except for the corroded areas.

THROUGH OUR EFFORTS TO PROVIDE THE HIGHEST QUALITY IMAGES, WE USE VERY HIGH RESOLUTION PHOTOS. IF YOU CANNOT SEE THE WHOLE RUG PLEASE TRY REFRESHING THE PAGE – SOME LONG RUGS MAY NOT FIT WITHOUT ZOOMING.
