Kazak rug from Armenia,southwest Caucasus

Age: circa 1885

Size: 7′.2"x4′.3" (218×130 cm)

The royal blue field is closely covered by far nested hooked diamonds in ivory,red,and yellow with quartered lozenge centers.At the sides are red,blue, and green hooked triangle fillers,some of which show rustic animals.In the blue field is a zig zag of disjoint small diamonds.The ivory main border is ornamented with red,blue,green and burgundy hooked diamonds which are separated by double arrow motifs in various colors.The flanking minor borders are both patterned in keyhole reciprocal designs in red and green and red and blue.There are several two tone barber pole lines in the border system.At each end is a wide rose kilim finish.All the colors are from natural sources.The rug is in good condition.SOLD
