Karagashli rug from eastern Caucasus,Kuba district,west coast of the Caspian Sea

Age: circa 1875

Size: 5′.7″x3′.4″ (170×102 cm)

The medium blue field shows four red attractive Karagashli variant squares along with numerous characteristic goosenecks.In addition there are ivory snowflakes,small diamonds and tertiary geometric forms.The madder red main border features slant leaf and chalice design.An outer secondary brown border shows colorful rosettes,there are two ivory minor stripes with S pattern and two narrow barber pole lines.At each end is a blue flatwoven finish.The weave is fine and the rug is flexible.All the colors are from natural sources.The piece is in good condition.SOLD
