Karagashli rug from eastern Caucasus,Kuba district,west coast of the Caspian Sea

The beautifully abrashed blue field presents four red pointed ovals,some of which sprout large goosenecks.Also in the field are rosettes,animals,snowflakes,boxes,combs,a knot,plants and tiny connected and free floating diamonds.The honey yellow main border shows a continuous locked triangle pattern.The dark brown outer secondary border displays multicolor stylized stars with triangle fillers.The innermost and outermost ivory minor borders present disconnected barred S’s.There are two narrow barber pole lines in the border system.The blue selvedges are in wool.The handle is leathery and compact.All the colors are from natural sources.The rug is in good condition with some naturally corroded dark brown sections and evenly low pile in the center
