Karagashli rug from Kuba district,eastern Caucasus

Age: circa 1870

Dimensions: 7′.2"x4′.0" (218×122 cm)

This exceptional rug employs a classic Karagashli pattern:A pole medallion of three colorful hexagons with red sunburst palmettes at each end.The dark blue field only admits small stars and a few other minor elements as details.The attractive yellow main border is decorated with interlocking multicolor motifs and is flanked by connected diamonds design abrashed minor guards.Additionally there are two very narrow "S" design strips and a couple of barber pole lines present.All the colors are from natural sources.The rug is in good condition including the flatwoven kilim ends.SOLD
