Karagashli rug from eastern Caucasus

Age: circa 1870

Measurements: 6′.8"x4′.0" (203×122 cm)

The navy field displays a pole medallion of three stepped hexagonal iconic Karagashli devices.At each end of the field are red sunbursts.Supporting the central element are ivory snowflakes,stars,geometric rosettes and other stylized elements.The deep gold classic main border employs a directional design of interlocking "dragons" and is flanked by two rosette guards and an inner ivory "S" pattern stripe.There are red and white barber pole lines in between.The weave is fine and compact.The colors are from natural sources.The condition is good.SOLD
