Heriz carpet (144) – SOLD

14' 0" x 11' 1" (427 x 338 cm)

Heriz carpet from north west Persia (Iran)

Age: circa 1880

Size: 14′.0″x11′.1″ (427×338 cm)

With an exceptional design and quality this north west Persian village carpet presents an ivory field enclosing a stepped madder red sub-field centered by an abrashed yellow medallion with elaborate ragged palmette pendants.Medium blue, rose and chocolate brown accent the medallion and there is an interesting ivory box in the center. The green corner elements are the most unusual and dominate the ivory corner areas.Furthermore the rosette and bent leaf pattern shows an extremely well against a straw main border supplemented by small dots. The main border is unusually wide creating a well balanced carpet. The flanking blue and navy minor borders both show small floral patterns. The colors are vivid and crystal clear.A fantastic example of the type.In order to fit the piece to the frame we had to fold it and leave some parts out.The piece is in good condition.SOLD
