Fachralo prayer Kazak rug from southwest Caucasus

The saturated madder red field displays a characteristic niche subfield with a square lower re-entrant and an upper faceted section.In the center of the field is an ivory octagram medallion with a blue/green conforming submedallion and a cartouche center.Set around are four highly stylized floating palmettes.Along the bottom of the field are three hooked elements and across the top are five flattened rosettes.The niche is outlined by an abrashed yellow zig-zag band.The main border shows slanted serrated leaves defining ivory,red,blue,yellow and green triangles.The flanking blue minor borders show free floating diamonds in a variety of colors.There are four narrow barber pole lines in the border system.All the colors are from natural sources.The wool is extremely soft,velvety and lush.At the top end is a madder flatweave present.The condition of this beautiful piece is good.
