Fachralo Kazak (566)

4' 0" x 3' 1" (122 x 94 cm)

Fachralo prayer Kazak rug from southwest Caucasus

Age: circa 1875

Size: 4′.0″x3′.1″ (122×94 cm)

This attractive Fachralo prayer rug is unusual for several reasons:the pistachio field intrudes into the red main border with a small pointed niche arch.At the center of the field is a red and ivory cartouche decorated with dots and centered by an aubergine hooked element. Also on the field are miscellaneous boxes and a hooked lozenge. The latter is reflected in the re-entrant section. The red main border flows into the re-entrant and is decorated with colorful octagons with hooked motifs.A zig zag pattern adorns the edge of the central panel. The outer blue and red border hosts a triangle reciprocal. There are two black and white barber pole lines and two solid lines in the border system. The red selvedges are intact and the ends show the remnants of narrow flatweaves. All the colors are from natural sources. The handle is moderate and the weave is fine. The condition is good except for some small bites in the corners.

THROUGH OUR EFFORTS TO PROVIDE THE HIGHEST QUALITY IMAGES, WE USE VERY HIGH RESOLUTION PHOTOS. IF YOU CANNOT SEE THE WHOLE RUG PLEASE TRY REFRESHING THE PAGE – SOME LONG RUGS MAY NOT FIT WITHOUT ZOOMING.
