Fachralo prayer Kazak rug from southwest Caucasus

Age: circa 1880

Size: 4′.8"x3′.9" (142×114 cm)

The unusual rusty brick field is centered by a large ivory octagon medallion with a conforming red submedallion.Hooks are employed to edge the medallion and to decorate the ivory area.Animals,ewer,octagons,stars,lazy S’s,diamonds and other elements are scattered in the field.The close navy re-entrant panel has a cruciform device and the navy spandrels show hooked diamonds as well.The ivory main border shows a diagonal bar and cross pattern.There are two royal blue minor borders with dot patterns and there is a zig zag yellow band defining the niche and the re-entrant area.There are five barber pole lines in the border system.The colors are vibrant and the weave is tight.The condition of this charming piece is good.SOLD
