Fachralo prayer Kazak rug from southwest Caucasus

Age: dated 1321=1903

Size: 5′.3″x3′.8″ (160×112 cm)

The abrashed madder red field displays the characteristic ivory floating headed niche panel which in turn displays celadon medallion and an inner yellow submedallion.There are six boxes with internal ram’s horn decorations and three additional boxes each with four external double ram’s horns.Among the minor devices are:small octagons,arrowheads,tuning forks and chains of tiny diamonds.A further decoration is: the colorful triangle mosaic surrounding the niche panel.The yellow main border has a T-vine pattern.The outer keyhole reciprocal is in red and blue and the inner serrated reciprocal is in red and green.There are four barber pole lines surrounding the whole and two surrounding the mihrab.At each end is a red kilim finishing.All the colors are from natural sources.The rug is in good condition with even pile.
