Fachralo prayer Kazak rug from southwest Caucasus

Age: dated 1305=1887

Size: 5′.1"x4′.0" (155×122 cm)

The unusual bottle green field displays the characteristic ivory nested Fachralo octagram medallion.At the base of the field is a red re-entrant panel with a running dog edge matching the inner field surround.Small animals,boxes with ram’s horns,colorful rosettes and lesser geometric elements float freely.The field intrudes into the ivory main border at the top.There is an ivory date panel below the mihrab arch.Among the detail colors are:aubergine,red,ivory,two shades of green and blue and dark brown.The ivory main border features one of the most attractive border designs:an angular meander,fringed rectangles and geometric plants.The flanking minor borders are in red and green and red and navy with reciprocal running dog designs.Multicolor selvedges add charm to the rug.At each end is a red plain weave strip.All the colors are from natural sources.The rug is in good condition.SOLD
