Fachralo prayer Kazak rug from southwest Caucasus 

Age: circa 1870

Size: 6′.3"x4′.6" (191×137 cm)

The moss green subfield is centered by a hooked six pointed medallion and ivory submedallion.In addition there are boxes,rosettes,dots and other small geometric devices in both the subfield and the surrounding red reserve.The subfield is edged by a blue band with a zig zag design.The red field displays polychrome small dots and larger quartered octagons at each end.The ivory main border displays a naive and rustic version of the slant leaf and chalice pattern and is flanked by multicolor triangle mosaic motif minor borders and four red and white barber pole lines.All the colors are from natural and vegetable sources.The condition is good and the pile is soft and high.SOLD
