Fachralo prayer Kazak rug from southwest Caucasus

Age: circa 1870

Measurements: 4′.10"x4′.8" (147×142 cm)

This unusually square Fachralo prayer Kazak rug displays a semi open particularly warm madder field with a bold array of fringed hexagons and smaller cartouches.The angular niche arch at the top of the field is exactly mirrored by the lower re entrant.The spandrels contain cartouches resembling those at the lower end of the field.The main border alternates ivory triangles with red and gold triangles and is flanked by diamond pattern guards in green and medium blue.There are several multicolor barber pole lines present.All the colors are from natural sources.The pile is good and so is the condition.SOLD
