Fachralo prayer Kazak rug from southwest Caucasus

Age: circa 1880

Dimensions: 5′.3"x4′.0" (160×122 cm)

The two toned (light blue and dark blue) re-entrant niche freely floats on a madder ground.It centers a pointed red and small similar ivory medallion within,has at its focus a kouchak box.There are small hooked diamonds,stars and rosettes ornamenting both field and mihrab.The ivory main border has a version of chalice and slant leaf pattern.The outer border begins with a dark blue stripe with colorful dots and changes almost immediately to red and blue running dog reciprocal.There are three red and white barber pole lines present.All the colors are from natural sources.The condition of the rug is very good including the original kilim ends.SOLD
