Fachralo prayer Kazak rug from southwest Caucasus

Age: circa 1850

Measurements: 4′.10"x3′.10" (147×117 cm)

This attractive example has a rare ivory subfield with a faceted niche arch,a large central red and blue hooked cross and seven colorful rosettes.The madder red background is decorated with polychrome beetle like devices.The ivory main border has the iconic Caucasian chalice diagonal leaf pattern.The inner and outer medium blue guard stripes have stylized rosettes and a red and green sawtooth design outlines the subfield.There are four barberpole narrow lines in between the main and minor borders.All the colors are from natural sources.The rug is in good condition except for some evenly low areas.A very powerful piece with a rare design.SOLD
